Tinted Photo

I found this image in a vintage shop, it doesn't look the best but I find the history interesting.

The photo was taken in 1866 by Alfred Winter (b.1837 - d.1911) who was a sketcher and professional photographer . He exhibited at the 1866 Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition and was awarded an honourable mention for his work. Winter also exhibited at the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition.

At the 1866 Exhibition Winter exhibited photographic portraits, plain and coloured. As you can see, this photo has been hand tinted, probably for the event.
