Tinted Photo

I found this image in a vintage shop, it doesn't look the best but I find the history interesting.

The photo was taken in 1866 by Alfred Winter (b.1837 - d.1911) who was a sketcher and professional photographer . He exhibited at the 1866 Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition and was awarded an honourable mention for his work. Winter also exhibited at the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition.

At the 1866 Exhibition Winter exhibited photographic portraits, plain and coloured. As you can see, this photo has been hand tinted, probably for the event.

The Beatles - Postcard Record

I bought this in the early 90's from a record store in Brisbane. The guy who sold it to me said that it was a postcard which was also a record of the Beatles Help. I haven't played it and haven't been able to find any information on it. He also said that they were made when Russia banned imports of western music.

The Old Boy's Club

I found this photo in an antique store with others. I really like it. It looks like it was probably taken in the Victorian Goldfields around the 1860's. When you look at it more closer you can even spot a black dog and one of the men pouring some alcohol into his cup. One of the men is smoking a pipe.

It would be great to know the history and who these men were.

It's all about the eyes

When I saw this photo I knew I had to buy it. It was at the bottom of a large suitcase and when I picked it up I saw her eyes first. What a lovely looking girl. I read the back but didn't understand what it said, I thought it might be a date, but later my brother saw it and told me it said 6 years old in German. Her name is Brigitte and it was taken in 1945.

It's such a shame when photos lose there owners. I'm sure if she is still alive she would love to have this photo back.
